Can anyone shed some light on the status of concealed carry on the Blue Ridge Parkway? It's my understanding that, beginning sometime this Feb., it will once again be legal for VA concealed carry permit holders to carry on the Parkway. Is this correct? When does the law change? This is an important issue for me as I live adjacent to the Parkway and frequently use it to get to downtown Roanoke. I also often run on the Parkway and would really like to be able to lawfully carry when I do.
If anyone out there knows the status of the law, etc. and can share it with me here I'd be very appreciative. My guess is many VCDL members would also be interested in the answer. Thanks!

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a National Park and falls under the National Park Service. As such, as far as I know, it is affected by the National Park Carry amendment to the Credit Card Bill passed last spring.
The effective date of that amendment is February 22, 2010. Basically, the amendment states that, as of the effective date, National Parks and National Forests fall under the same laws as the state that they are located in. This was discussed in greater detail a week or so ago HERE.
